LITTLE ELM FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY
ADULT LITERACY PROGRAM

Now heading into its 10th year, the Little Elm Friends of the Library's Adult Literacy Program has helped 226 adult students representing 30 countries and speaking 13 different languages, to conquer the sometimes challenging task of learning English.
Registration and placement testing occurs each fall and spring.

TRIVIA NIGHT
Trivia Night is the major fundraiser for Little Elm Friends of the Library, and celebrated its 21st anniversary in 2019! Trivia Night has become an annual tradition for many of Little Elm's residents and businesses; each year the event hosts over 50 teams from the community to compete against each other during an evening of fun, food, and prizes. It is a fun and competitive way to interact with friends, family, and coworkers.
A variety of food concessions are available during the event, which also includes great prize drawings and a silent auction. Awards are given for best team costumes and best team spirit. The grand prize for the trivia competition is $500 cash to the winning team, and the winning team gets possession of the coveted Trivia trophy for the remainder of the year!
Over the years Trivia Night proceeds have been used to purchase many resources for the Little Elm Public Library, including reference books, furniture, computers, sculptures, online resource subscriptions, and much more.
Congratulations to winning team RTI Varsity for their back-to-back 2019 and 2018 victories!
They generously donated their $500
Grand Prize back to the Little Elm Friends.
Thanks for your support!
Thank you for making Trivia Night 2019 a great success! See you next year!

LITTLE ELM FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Friends President Michel Hambrick presents the 2019 scholarship recipients with awards before Little Elm Town Council.
Each year the Little Elm Friends of the Library sponsors merit-based scholarships to local high school seniors to support the area's continued educational achievement.
Recipients must meet GPA, references, and volunteer hours criteria. Selection of awardees is a joint effort between FOL representatives and library staff.
Beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, the Friends will award three $1,500.00 scholarships.

Jewel Simpson Narry

The Little Elm Friends of the Library is pleased to announce the renaming of its $ 2,500 scholarship in honor of Jewel Simpson Narry.
Mrs. Narry, a longtime Friends member and dedicated library volunteer, was also an active reader, runner, cyclist, and traveler. Through a donation two books have been purchased in her name: A History of the World in 500 Walks, and Do Princesses Wear Hiking Boots?
The Little Elm Friends of the Library has also renamed its $ 2,000 scholarship in honor of current Lifetime Member Virginia Berney. Mrs. Berney, one of the Friends' founding members, was also instrumental in getting the Little Elm Public Library established, and remains an active library supporter to this day.
We are grateful for the support of our Friends!
